Thinking through a sermon

It’s often a good practice to return to a sermon and think through some questions, praying for wisdom on how it might help you in your walk, worship and witness. Here’s a message from our series ‘How great a salvation’ and some questions to think through.

The message begins at 31 minutes in.

Think it through...

  • What does Simon’s response to Jesus’ treatment of the woman teach us about Simon?

  • How does Luke’s emphasis on Simon as ‘The Pharisee’ help us to see Simon’s problem?

  • Why is Jesus’ story in verse 41–42 so apt?

  • What has the woman seen & heard that Simon hasn’t?

  • In what way does verse 47–50 take us to the heart of the matter?

  • How does this incident encourage/challenge you?

  • What will it mean for us to respond like the woman and avoid responding like Simon?
